“Necessity is the mother of invention.”
My name is JR Vazquez and I’m the owner of Rent My Motorcycle, LLC. I’m often asked how I started this business….
It was actually the result of very unfortunate circumstances. After almost 18 years at a government agency, I was laid off along with 300 others. It drastically changed my life. At the time, I had a loan on a 2009 BMW R1200 RT and figured I would have to sell it. I had purchased it new and the thought of selling it was very depressing. I began to sell other biker-related items… boots, helmets, gloves and a jacket. Coincidentally, the person I sold the jacket to asked if I knew of a place that rented BMWs because he had a friend that was coming from overseas who wanted to rent one. BINGO!
A few months later I had a motorcycle rental business consisting of one bike, my R1200 RT, hence the name Rent My Motorcycle. My hope was to make enough money to pay the loan and upkeep. I will tell you that the first time I rented it out was very tough and almost brought me to tears. No one but myself had ever ridden that bike. It was almost like renting my wife out. It was terrible, but it worked!
Business was good enough that I was able to pay my loan and keep my BMW. Since then I’ve acquired several motorcycles from BMW and Harley-Davidson to add to the rental fleet.
I’m very proud of what we have accomplished so far. We’re still growing and we have more ideas and services that we will offer the biker community in the future at a very fair value. This is a business I’m very passionate about and I will do everything in my power to make sure your rental experience is a memorable one.
